‘About Last Night’ Lights Up Box Office With $27 Million Debut
About Last Night earned second place at the box office and earned $27 million during its Valentine’s Day weekend debut. The Lego Movie landed the first place spot with $48.81 million. Two other romantic films, Winter’s Tale, starring Russell Crowe, Colin Farrell, and Jennifer Connelly, as well as Endless Love also debuted this week. The films earned $7.78 and $13.38 million respectively, making About Last Night the clear winner among romantic comedies.
The sci-fi action reboot RoboCop also debuted Valentine’s Day weekend and, despite its $100 million production budget, it landed in third place with earnings of a little over $26 million. I’d say that About Last Night, with its $12.5 million dollar budget was the winner of debuts in all genres this weekend by a long shot. Thanks Box Office Mojo for the numbers.
