Chiwetel Ejiofor Provokes Star Trek Rumors After Spotted With Director J.J. Abrams
A reporter for The Times went to a meeting with J.J. Abrams, director of the upcoming Star Wars VII film, where he saw none but Chiwetel Ejiofor, possibly the most buzzed about actor out there right now, waiting for a meeting with Abrams as well. This citing has incited rumors that Ejiofor may appear in the upcoming Star Wars VII film. This is hardly enough information to make assumptions . A big director like Abrams has a lot of projects on his plate. Ejiofor could have been meeting with Abrams for any number of reasons.
We also know that Ejiofor has found a niche giving Oscar worthy performances as slaves (yes he’s played multiple slaves in 2013) and political revolutionaries this year. But he’s no stranger to science fiction. He played the villain in the Joss Whedon film Serenity (2005).
According to Moviefone, the Times reporter asked Abrams whether Ejiofor was up for a Star Wars Episode VII role. The director declined to comment. Ejiofor has also been mum on the topic. While its too early to tell what will develop here, a mainstream role in a film such as Star Wars VII could definitely boost Ejiofors career, provided it is not disastrous like the previous 3 prequels.
