ThisWeekInBlackTVRatings-www.blallywood.comThis Week In Black TV Ratings is a new weekly feature on Blallywood! We’ve done ratings posts in the past, but the Black network television lineup has never been more exciting. It will be fun to track the results and see how many viewers are tuning in to watch Black actors each week. This series will mainly focus on network shows like Scandal, Sleepy Hollow, Ironside, and the upcoming Almost Human (Starring Michael Ealy). But we’ll occasionally throw in new cable shows like Instant Mom.

So let’s review how the 4 shows in the image above did.  First, rank the 4 shows in your head see if you guess the results correctly. Numbers were supplied by taken from TVByTheNumbers.Zap2it.com.

In order of most to least viewers we have:

Scandal 10.52 million viewers (3.6/10 rating) – This number beat this weeks Grey’s Anatomy despite having a later time slot. It also beat out time slot competitor Elementary in total viewer numbers (Yes!). Scandal seems to have picked up more viewers since season 2. Perhaps that re-airing of the show’s first 2 seasons on BET over the summer helped the show pick up more fans.

Sleepy Hollow 7.57 million viewers (3.0/8 rating ) – A decent number of viewers that will no doubt increase over several days with its young, digitally tuned in audience watching from various sources. The show is incredibly popular on digital formats. The Sleepy Hollow premiere, which debuted to about 13 million viewers, has now been watched more than 22 million viewers after the addition of DVR and streaming services are taken into account. Count me in as one of those “after viewers”, because I’ve never watched the show live.

Ironside 6.81 million viewers (2.1/6 rating) – Not bad for another police procedural show with a twist. How the show develops will determine its staying power. It beat out ABC’s Nashville for numbers in its timeslot, but didn’t come close to CSI’s 9.66 million viewers. Still, not a bad result. It’s also the kind of show users are probably tuning into on digital devices.

Instant Mom 1.3 million viewers – cable is a strange animal. Nick-At-Night is thrilled with the show’s debut. The show aired twice, at 8:30pm eastern on Nick-At-Night, then again at 10pm eastern on NickMom. The NickMom showing set a premiere record for the time slot on the network (Press Release).
