Michael Ealy (Think Like A Man) has been for hire ever since his USA show Common Law got cancelled after its first season aired in 2012. HitFix reports that Ealy has been cast in a leading role in a new science-fiction thriller series. The show is being produced by J.J. Abrams, who in addition to directing science fiction Blockbusters like the 2009 Star Trek reboot and the upcoming Star War Episode VII, was responsible for a number of beloved TV shows ranging from Lost to Fringe to Felicty. J.H. Wyman, executive producer and show runner of Fringe, is a co-creator. The show will air on Fox.

A summary of the plot and of Ealy’s role has been described as follows:

an action-packed buddy cop show set in the near future, when all LAPD officers are partnered with highly evolved humanlike androids, Ealy will play a character named Dorian, the android partner of LAPD officer John Kennex, who understands humanity more than his human counterpart.

Its interesting that Ealy’s last show that failed was also a 2-cop team drama.  However, having J.J. Abrams and J.H. Hyman behind the show should eliminate any superstition. Are you excited to see Michael Ealy get an opportunity like this?
