Shonda Rhimes Creating New Drama Gilded Lillys
Shonda Rhimes (creator of Scandal and Grey’s Anatomy) is creating yet another drama for the ABC television network. This time she is really broadening her topical reach. The show will be called Gilded Lillies and is set in 1895. From the Huffington Post we know that Gilded Lillies:
” revolves around the opening of the first luxury hotel in New York City and all the intermingling of love, treachery and disdain between the classes set against a backdrop of vicious family rivalries, scandalous secrets and conflict and co-mingling of classes.”
With class warfare lingering on the minds of Americans since the 2012 Presidential campaigns, and because of the increasing popularity of the subject matter due to shows like Downton Abbey, it seems Shonda Rhimes is about to hit another jackpot. We know that Private Practice will be off her plate, and she likes to keep busy juggling multiple shows.
Though the pilot will be developed, its yet to be seen whether the show will get a full season ordered. Â These things are never certain this early. Scandal just got confirmed for a full 22 episode second season in October.
