Final Countdown to Premier of Houston Family Reality Show
The upcoming Lifetime series The Houston’s On Our Own premiers Wednesday October 24th at 9/8c. The show follows Bobbi Kristina (nicknamed Krissy), who appeared on the small screen in the Tyler Perry show for Better or Worse as well as Oprah the Next Chapter this year. Here is the synopsis of the show from the Lifetime website:
Throughout the 14 episode half-hour series, viewers will see the Houston Family as they come together to deal with the loss of Whitney and focus on Krissy, the 19 year-old daughter of Bobby Brown and Whitney, and the only heir to her mother’s estate. “The Houstons: On Our Own” will follow Pat Houston, Krissy’s aunt, guardian, manager and executor of Whitney’s estate, as she tries her best to keep this large family together as they help Krissy deal with the loss of her mother in a healthy way and grow into a talented and beautiful young woman.

Lifetime premiered two black movies, a remix of Steel Magnolias, and The Carlina White Story, just last weekend. These Lifetime originals are continuing to air on the network throughout the month. Now that they are adding the Houston’s series to the lineup, it’s clear they are aligning their network toward the African-American audience. Do you think Lifetime is making a smart decision? Is VH1 and BET enough?
