Nate Parker and Samuel L. Jackson To Appear In Spike Lee’s Oldboy

by on September 13, 2012

Nate Parker and Samuel L. Jackson have joined the cast for Spike Lee’s Old Boy. The project is a remake of a revered 2003 South Korean film of the same name. Josh Brolin will play the starring role. Parker and Jackson join Elizabeth Oldsen as members of the supporting cast.

The official summary for the revenge plot goes as follows:

“An ad exec who is kidnapped and held hostage for 20 years in solitary confinement without any indication of his captor’s motive. When he is inexplicably released, he embarks on an obsessive mission to discover who orchestrated his bizarre and torturous punishment only to find he is still trapped in a web of conspiracy and torment. “

Indie Wire predicts a release date sometime in 2013.

Nate Parker has picked up an awful lot of roles this year (Red Tails, Red Hook Summer, Arbitrage), but it appears his role is smaller than early rumors of his casting in the film indicated. I suppose he’s too young to pass as the main character whose been imprisoned for 20 years.

How long do you think its gonna take Nate Parker to break out as a leading man?
